Making a “To Be” List for 2017

I commit to me.  Instead of making New Year resolutions this year, what if I simply commit to me?  What does that look like?  Maybe saying no, maybe saying yes, speaking up for myself, nurturing myself, moving my body in some way every day, going to bed and waking up earlier, eating nourishing food, meditating, praying, being in life, being present in life with the people in my life, because really, that’s where the magic lies.

I heard Mastin Kipp of The Daily Love say in one of his New Year videos, “What if we make a ‘to be list’ instead of a ‘to do list’?”  I love that!  Who do I want and choose to be?  A loving, kind, fun, generous, inspired, fulfilled, in love, compassionate, free, and peaceful human.  The truth is that when I commit to me, I am actually able to give more of myself to the people in my life.  What I love about I commit to me as opposed to a resolution is that it’s created anew every day.  It’s not something I know I should do or hope I accomplish, because let’s face it, we’re all human, perfectly imperfect humans, and we will mess up and make mistakes.

By committing to me everyday I don’t have to feel bad, or defeated, or wrong when I make a mistake or “break a resolution.” Instead I can simply acknowledge what is so and begin again.
